If France doesn’t go ahead with it’s proposed unilateral action, then the UK can wave the Union flag and say we’ve won, while France will wave the white flag.
However, if France does go ahead, then the UK will then initiate proceedings against the EU breaking the TCA and probably initiate some form of sanctions, possibly against Germany.
My bet would be a luxury item, such as German Wine.
So in that case should the EU take legal action against the UK for not sticking to the withdrawal agreement?
I really do find the whole thing confusing
What is Macron’s end game? If he doesn’t actually do anything then he’ll look weak but if he does do something then either he’ll be forced by the EU into a humiliating climb down which will increase pressure from Le Pen/Zemmour or the dispute will go through the resolution channels and everything I’ve seen indicates that the U.K. will prevail there.
I mean for crying out loud the French PM wrote to the EU and asked them to support them because brexit must be be shown to have detrimental effects and not because france believe they’re in the right in this dispute. It’s ridiculous.

UK gets more desperate by the minute.
UK playing 4D chess. France is playing connect 4.
Liz Truss wants a trade war with France. It’s the final move in her 4d chess campaign that has always been about one thing.
Cheese.
Stop trade with France, and Britain will see a new era of homegrown cheese-based prosperity.
People of France, in Liz we Truss. Look upon her and tremble.

We’ll find out in 2 days, I suppose.

Another stupid BBC not news headline. FFS tell me when UK takes action, that’s news. Otherwise its on the level of …
“UK could take legal action against Bhutan over fishing row”
That’s exactly what the dispute provisions in the agreement are for.
Beware, this thread is heavily brigaded.

The consistent french attempts to throw it’s weight around are quite frankly pathetic and macron is doing nothing for himself or his country
Key takeaway from this article for me.
“Mr Johnson said he was “puzzled to read a letter from the French prime minister explicitly asking for Britain to be punished for leaving the EU”.”
Just invade France and get a picture of Boris admiring the Eiffel Tower!
what court will they use .i suppose the european court of justice?.
