Hi,
This year ( Jan 2022) I had the GP create a DMG for me with them.
The doctor still charges the same supplements, thus I paid the same. They use the 3rd party payment system.
I thought that if I did a DMG with my doctor., then I could pay less. I read this here:
https://www.inami.fgov.be/fr/themes/cout-remboursement/facilite-financiere/Pages/dossier-medical-global.aspx
Is there really a financial benefit for the patients, or does the extra part personnelle in fact go to the doctor?
I am certain it was the same with my old GP, because he increased the supplement from 10 to 15 euros telling this was because he had so much experience. ( I left him because of symptom dismissal).
I’ll take anything to reduce my out of pocket payments. I paid 2,500 Euros last year.

If you pay 2500€ in out of pocket payments (which is enormous in Belgium) you should really think about getting an insurance. Even if there is a waiting time, it will end up costing you less.

With DMG you pay the same price but you get reimbursed more. Then depending if the 3rd party payment counts that or not you might still need to ask for reimbursements.
If the doctor sends electronic reimbursement, I get the money on my account within 24h.
There is a difference between supplements (a surplus the gp asks because he is non-conventioned meaning he asks more than the agreed prices between INAMI and the physician syndicats. This surplus is to be paid by the the patient.) and the ticket modérateur, which is a small part of the agreed price that the patient has to pay himself so that patients don’t seek out unnecessary care that is free for them but is paid for by the community. Only the ticket modérateur is decreased when you have a gmd with that gp. The decrease is only 2 euro for a normal consultation (from 6 to 4 euro). When you have ‘preferential status’ the decrease is even smaller (from 1.5 to 1). So i may be possible you didn’t notice the decrease because you pay quite a lot out of pocket. If you stil pay 6 or 1.5 euro ticket modérateur the gp is commiting fraud and you should report him.
Is your gp “conventionné” or not? The 1€ and 4€ apply only if he is I think
