  1. From Slate’s Jeremy Stahl and Mark Joseph Stern:

On Wednesday evening, newly installed Attorney General Pam Bondi sent staff in several divisions of the Department of Justice more than a dozen memos within a 15-minute span, laying out the agency’s new policies on issues ranging from reviving the death penalty, to targeting sanctuary cities, to enforcing a strict return-to-office policy.

One astonishing memo, seen by *Slate*, puts the DOJ at the center of President Donald Trump’s widespread efforts to destroy any traces of initiatives that would create inclusive and diverse workspaces, otherwise known as DEIA. The new memo claims that it will target private sector DEIA initiatives for potential “criminal investigation.”

It’s hard to overstate both the constitutional wreckage this crusade will leave in its wake and the havoc it could wreak on the American workforce.. In the name of protecting constitutional rights, Bondi’s Justice Department is teeing up an all-out assault on fundamental First Amendment rights to speak, organize, and associate. (A request to the DOJ for more information about the memo had not been responded to as of press time.)

  2. They should define what exactly they mean by DEI

  3. Jesus Christ with this bullshit. I’m so fed up with these fucking people.

  4. Private companies.. what happened to small government conservatives and libertarians?

  5. Private companies can do whatever they want, Pam.

  6. America, you need to take a good long hard look at yourself and smack some sense back into your country.

  7. I guess this is how they try to get women out of the workforce  since the heritage foundation is convinced American families broke apart when women went to work.

  8. On what standing? There isn’t any law against having policies for dei.

  9. Shouldn’t she investigate Trump for hiring women? What a pathetic POS

  10. In a sane world, this would immediately be struck down as unconstitutional. But we don’t live in a sane world, and the Federalist Society has a supermajority of Supreme Court justices that will rule counter to what the construction says.

  11. Fabulous! Another step towards affirmative action for mediocre white guys who spend 1/3 of their work day hanging out in some other dude’s office talking about last night’s game.

  12. Okay having empathy is a crime? ‘Woke’ is a crime, oh yeah.

  13. This isn’t about DEI, it’s about punishing perceived enemies for thinking, speaking and acting in ways that those in power hate.

I never thought I’d see a day when the Justice department dispensed injustice.

  14. It isn’t about DEI, it’s about getting rid of anyone that Trump doesn’t like, DEI is just the excuse. They are going to criminally investigate any companies that don’t bend the knee is the message. Look how early all of the big tech companies got that memo, they were tearing down the DEI policies day one.

Criminally investigating companies that have diversity and inclusion programs, I wonder how Conservatives try to spin this wheel around in their world. Wonder what talking to my neighbors, getting out in the world, being an American bootlicker first has to do about criminally investigating companies with diversity programs.

  15. Your tax dollars at work. Investigations for something that isn’t unlawful

  16. This should be interesting since it highlights one of the main internal conflicts in Rightwing Ideology: Corporate/private First Amendment Rights vs (the Myth of) Colorblind, Gender-Neutral ideology! The Supreme Court has ruled for both. What will they do here?

My bet is they rule against Bondi and for Corporate rights.

  17. it really should be required that “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” be written out in headlines.

  18. What a colossal and idiotic waste of fucking time. They will do anything except their actual jobs.

  19. I voted for Fetterman, who then turned around and voted for this monster (FML!!!).

  20. ALL of them are the true “DEI” in the manner they think of it. They didn’t earn shit on merit and were only appointed because they’re practically all white. There’s a felon rapist who’s a president, a religious but heading up something a medical professional should be heading, there’s a drunk heading up national security…but they want to say we minorities are being given handouts? I took the SAME fucking CPA exam my non-minority counterparts did and I busted my ass and passed fair and square. There’s not one fucking thing I’ve gotten for free and there are zero jobs I’ve gotten as a result of being Latina. If anything, I’ve gotten more work for less pay. Fuck all of them.

  21. For what crimes? Is diversity and inclusion now being made illegal? Holy fuck this is getting bad.

  22. Guys is this what they mean by freedom from government overreach?

  23. Stop using the acronym. Make it clear and tangible what it is they are doing. Say the words. Say “…to Criminally Investigate Companies That Do Diversity, Equity, or Inclusion”.

  24. What’s the crime?

This is like actual thought policing

  25. “Won’t anyone think of the mediocre white men?!” – Pam Bondi, probably

  26. They want to punish private companies for the crime of hiring whomever they fucking want to?

    Seems like a stretch.

Will be hilarious when they try to prove some sort of reverse racism only to run into a brick wall of white male managers at every company.

  27. The president cannot unilaterally declare something a crime. DEI cannot be criminally prosecuted.

  28. So, you don’t have to bake a cake for a gay couple but they have to hire tatted white supremacists?

  29. She is rhe prosecutor who gave Epstein the pass in Florida when they had him to rights and the attorney general for Florida who declined to prosecute TRUMP University

  30. Stop wasting my taxpayer money on bullshit that doesn’t fucking matter. They want to cut federal funds that provide services that actually fuckin matter and instead want to waste money investigating bullshit? It makes me irrationally angry. I don’t care about the cultural war they are trying to propagate when people are struggling to make ends meet. Fuck this administration and the people who voted for him. I wish I could refuse to pay my taxes in protest.

  31. I just don’t get why IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Acceptance) is such a hot button issue!! From the time we are very young it seems that this is what we want most of all! Why is it so hard to just accept that everyone is different and that’s ok??? It seems to me that differences in others really have no baring on my life in a bad way! Quite the opposite! Differences give me a whole new outlook and views of the world.

  32. I was under the impression they were the laissez faire party, suddenly government gets to decide what private companies can do regarding HR? 💁‍♂️

  33. Let’s come to terms with why they voted for Trump. And it wasn’t because of egg prices. Sure, there might be 1% of Trump voters who truly believed that Trump would have that power. But what they really didn’t want was a woman and non-white person to be in the White House. They won’t admit it to your face, but when the ‘cameras go dark,’ they will legitimately explain why they voted the way they did. Mask off!

  34. What law did they break?

DEI just means that they cast a wider net for resumes. It doesn’t mean they gave anyone a job they didn’t deserve. Fuck off, Pam Bondi.

  35. Here’s the weaponized DOJ they’re always talking about.

  36. This is a “. Look over here, not over there” attempt while they loot everything.

What was entirely an out of body experience was seeing Greg Abbott sitting in a fucking wheelchair talking about eradicating DEI. The cognitive dissonance hurts my 🧠

  37. Fun fact: at my organization DEI meant specifically recruiting and mentoring white working class folks too. Oh well.

  38. Is it now a crime to run a PRIVATE business as you see fit in a *checks notes* capitalist country? This sounds more like communism.
