Latvia and the UK jointly head the drone coalition for Ukraine.

“As the first anniversary of the international drone coalition approaches, Latvia and the United Kingdom are ready to continue supporting Ukraine to achieve success on the battlefield… Latvia is committed to continuing to provide drone testing opportunities, and we highly value cooperation with the United Kingdom and its work in coordinating the coalition’s common fund,” said Sprūds.

During the conversation, the defense ministers of both countries reportedly also discussed regional security issues and other issues related to the upcoming NATO defense ministerial meeting.

Sprūds also invited his UK counterpart to participate in the upcoming international drone summit, which will take place May 28 in Rīga. John Healey was appointed Secretary of State for Defence on July 5, 2024.
