As private jet flights soar in Switzerland, so do their CO2 emissions

  1. unfortunately, the regular person recycling and trying to be as eco as possible is destroyed by the greed of the rich who will never renounce nothing from their beautiful daily lives in order to make the lives of others better.

they just want everything for them, the rest can die off.

    # Billionaires emit more carbon pollution in 90 minutes than the average person does in a lifetime

Whatever we do to leave a better life for our children, is instantly destroyed in a few hours by a rich person.

  2. Well, that is what happens when you get cater to the corrupt and the money launderers. I have never seen a city with the number of private investment banks, per capita as Geneva.

  3. Is there a map of when and where most private jets fly?

I find it surprising that most private jets I see arriving in Zurich are on Sunday afternoons. Maybe it’s when I am also most aware but still…

  4. We desperately need CO2 taxation. Unfortunately the Swiss population rejected it at the ballot box in 2021 so we probably won’t see it any time soon.

  5. Our world bends to the will of the wealthiest, as economies and societies labor not for the many, but for the few who hoard the means of survival itself.

These are the new kings or queens that feast while the peasants (that’s you) break their backs in the fields (or destroy their health with stationary and stressful office jobs).

  6. Who cares. It’s only the average Joe that feels like he’s changing the world with that fucking recycling that believes this to matter at all. You, I and our entire country has as close as zero effect on the whole thing.

  7. Aviation is roughly responsible for 2.5% of co2 emissions, so pretty negligible in terms of priorities. Billionaires may emit more than anyone else with their jets, but they also offset more than anyone else, so there are bigger fish to fry than aviation as a whole and billionaire flying in particular

  8. The Government has been punishing the poor all the time.

  9. As well as private jets, there’s absolutely no reason why there should be nine commercial flights a day between Zürich and Geneva

  10. This morning I discovered that there is a Geneva – Zurich plane.

There is a 2h50 train every 30 minutes to do that route, but some people feel the need to take the plane? And it’s legal? How is that normal?

  11. Think about it the next time you drink out of your mushy paper straw, your paper bag rips and your drink spills because of the moronic screw.

  12. Many people are idealistic a bit too much. Unless more than 50 percent people magically stop flying we will have more pollution and more CO2. It’s the reality of thr world. Unless countries start to work on climate change seriously we will be cooked anyways. Idealists need to admit reality but then they are idealists and imo unrealistic idiots for a reason. World isn’t ideal.
