Yesterday, I went to Solihull. Today, I visited Croydon. Michael Palin has nothing on me.

  1. Living the dream baby. Can’t wait to see what uncontactable tribes you visit next

  2. Please tell me you’re conducting this adventure dressed like Ray Mears.

  3. Just thank you for how you got that pole dead centre of the tower blocks

  4. How are you funding these travels?

Will there be a vlog, or perhaps a series of magazine articles?

  5. When is the TV series around the UK in 80 days coming out?

  6. “I’m touring what I like to call the ‘Real UK'”

  7. Some years ago the company I work for knocked down what was there and cleared and dug the basement for those two buildings.

  8. I was in Croydon last Saturday night and I was genuinely shocked at how bad it’s become. I used to go to college and work in the Cronx. It’s never been great but at least you could have an okay night out and do a bit of shopping.

Saturday nights in Croydon used to be packed. Black sheep, Reflex, Goose etc… Even the Skylark is gone. Even box park was shut and it was only 11pm. There was no one out at all.

The last time I attempted to go shopping in Croydon was pointless. I actually only went so I could take my daughter on the bus. The Whitgift centre and high street is practically empty.

They’ve knocked half the buildings down to get ready for Westfield, which never happened, so now there are just building sites and abandoned buildings everywhere.

So if you like empty high streets, large gangs of kids and inebriated weirdos sleeping on benches, Croydon is the place for you!

Edit: Can you go to Jaywick next please?

  9. This is, unironically, perhaps the most compelling photograph of Croydon that I have ever seen.

  10. Croydon… Used to work there and was a shit hole back in the days…

And today…. It’s just worse….. Won’t even go there now..

Dirty… Full of gangs… Horrible place… Should just bulldoze and start again

  11. Did you take the train, like Portillo?

You’re a bolder man than I to be “Double Michaeling”.

  12. Mate, I went to Chadwell Heath, Tottenham and Enfield this week, and I thought I was well travelled.
