The only safe answer to that is “I don’t really like football”
Reminds me a bit of the Falkland’s war.
First wave of Royal Marines go ashore at San Carlos, move their way off the beach, and stumble into a local, the very first islander to meet the task force.
This man has just been suddenly saved from an armed dictatorial occupation completely unexpectedly, he’s met his first liberators, gotten his first connection back to blighty, to the outside world and what are the first words out of his mouth?
“have Leeds been relegated yet?”
Pinnacle of anglo culture 🙂
Non football fans don’t understand how much of a culture shortcut it is for us to bond with total strangers all over the globe.
>We left Scotland at 16:00 on Friday last week in a hire car
