Energy or electricity? I can imagine the latter but maybe not the former, once you factor in fertilizer, farm equipment, pesticide.
*“This is Captain Obvious reporting from the field…”*
Solar and Bess say hi!
It’s simply impossible.
And… a pay-walled article so we can’t verify that claim.
They must mean per plant or per m2 because they certainly don’t mean in total. Not very meaningful
Weed is very weird plant that caused a lot of gang wars because growing it is annoying. It likes a climate controlled temperature, the room has to be sealed (weed will change sex when sprayed with hormones effectively destroying the weed you want to grow), and have a lot of light. If your neighbors grow weed, in a poor neighborhood or a tight neighborhood you might be experiencing brown outs. Power companies have a history of working with the cops to detect weed farms because of how much power they use. So I won’t be surprised if they do because if we could we would grow weed outside.
God I’m so glad I live in Massachusetts where you can have dozens of plants just growing in your back yard no issue
Sure Jan. I’m sure lights use as much energy as tractors, harvesters, crop dusters, plows and whatever it’s called when you drive back and forth watering and fertilizing.
Synthetic THC, also known as a synthetic phytocannabinoid, is a man-made version of the THC found in cannabis. Made since 1980s , not sure why they don’t use it , probably makes people go “Reefer mad” .
F them and crypto.
It is like that because the law requires it, and laws can be changed.
Cryptos the real energy drain. Almost as bad as Nestle with our water.
Rhere is a very large indoor grow operation near my house and they have solar so that’s a step in the right direction. But yes, pot is a big drain on electricity, for sure.
