My dad was one stop from Edgware Road station when it happened and I used to ask him to go to Nike Town on his lunch to get me a just do it bag, it was terrifying to think about that after the fact.
On the day as well, I was on a school trip to the science museum and on the way he called up and told a teacher to turn the coach around.. scary to think how close we were to something so tragic!
I happened to go in to work an hour early that day, but one of the stops along my route was hit. The news said a ‘suspected electrical surge, with casualties’ so I texted my parents and bro saying “just to let you know I’m ok and at the office”. Got a very snarky reply from my brother, but when it turned out to be what it was I was glad they knew. No phones and internet was super slow. The BBC had their “bare bones” website up, the first time I’d seen it since 9/11
