We had an absolute debate about this at my work lunch yesterday. Glaswegian born and have always known it as ‘French toast’ and I was shocked when I recently found out my Aberdonian pal calls it ‘Eggy bread’ which is a bit too teletubbie for me – let’s here the consensus

  8. Just had this debate in work last week cause my husband (english) said eggy bread and I wanted to punch him. Asked everyone in my office and they all said French toast cause they’re no cunts.

  16. So for me i was told french toast was when you added sugar into the mix, and it was eggy bread when you added just Salt n Pepper

  17. Up in moray, only ever hear eggy bread. Don’t know anyone who calls it French toast.

  19. French toast, although a few have attempted to correct me saying that French toast isn’t just eggs, it’s custard and it’s sweet with fresh fruit and that. My mum called it French Toast when I was growing up and that’s what I’m sticking with.
