  4. I’m hoping at this point that Ukraine can stop the steady russian advance in southern donesk. I feel like that area is the most critical and russia needs to be checked there. Better yet would be a Ukrainian counter attack that retakes some ground and sets russia back there

  5. A bit of context from yesterday’s CDS post:

    On the Kursk direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked in the areas of Mykolaivka and Makhnovka, attempting to advance toward Staraya Sorochina, Novaya Sorochina, Russkoe Porechie, and Cherkasskoe Porechie, and tried to push Ukrainian units from the northern outskirts of Sverdlivkovo.

    The “Siversk” Operational Tactical Group (OTG) counterattacked near Nikolaevo-Daryino, Sverdlivkovo, Makhnovka, and Kurilovka, striking the enemy’s command post near Novoivanovka.

    Russian forces in Kursk Oblast have taken an operational pause. After retreating from Makhnovka, the enemy failed to establish a foothold on its outskirts and will resume fighting once weather conditions improve. The withdrawal of the contingent of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) from the operational zone also contributed to the pause. The arrival of 1–2 fresh regiments of the KPA is expected within 1–2 months.

  8. Italian Facke news? From the Italian Media: Moscow a new advance attempt by Ukrainian troops in Kursk rejected

    Moscow’s Defense Ministry said that a new advance attempt by Ukrainian troops who have occupied a portion of territory in the Russian Kursk region since August 2024 was repelled this morning after a battle that lasted a few hours. “On the morning of February 6 – we read in a statement from the ministry posted on its Telegram channel – the Ukrainian armed forces attempted a counter-offensive in the direction of the settlements of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanok, in the Kursk region. For this purpose, the Ukrainians deployed up to two mechanized battalions on armored vehicles and the enemy assault groups launched several waves of attacks in the indicated direction”. Also according to Moscow, Russian forces, with the support of the air force, “inflicted fire damage on the assault groups of the Ukrainian armed forces” and at 2pm local time (12pm Italian time) “the attacks were repelled.”
