Did you know that 67% of Russians support the war in Ukraine? According to the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), this translates to 98 million people who stand behind violence, destruction, and suffering.

I know that in dictatorship, where any political question is basically “Are you happy with everything or do you want to go to jail?”, polls are not super reliable.
Thats not too bad, 75+ Million people in the USA support Nazis
It is not just Putin. It is a systemic problem with Russians. The only fact that mitigates this is the disinformation their citizens are subjected to.
I am from Russia (St. Petersburg and was lucky enough to grow up and continue to live in the best of its neighborhoods) and I was curious to know the % of the number of bewildered compatriots.
I have always said and will continue to say – Most of the citizens of Russia are idiots. I always get downvotes from the offended and I know it personally.
Uneducated, homophobic and chauvinistic attitudes are a classic of the genre, even if they say that not everyone is like that.
Yes, not everyone, there are also adequate liberal and peacefully minded people like me who wish Ukraine victory and a peaceful sky above their heads…but there are fewer of us and it is insanity to go against this machine with bare hands. Everything according to Orwell’s 1984, how everything ended there and how everything ends for political prisoners in Russia. Scary and sad
Freedom to Russia💙🤍💙 & Glory to Ukraine 💙💛
So it 33% really.
Yeah, and Putin won with an 87% approval rate. Anything coming out of russia is worth less than the data that was used to provide us with this stat.
And 33% are brave enough to say how they really feel.
Watching RT and Sputnik in Russian is like falling into Alice’s propaganda rabbit hole.
You can use statistics to support any argument you want. 94% of people know that
Polling public opinion has always been a tricky business, especially in authoritarian states. If a government agency rings you up in Russia and asks for your thoughts on the government, you suddenly become the biggest Putin fan since that guy who rides around Moscow with a Z sticker on his car. Because, of course, you say what you think they want to hear… unless you enjoy impromptu vacations to Siberia.
It’s the same when a foreign company starts nosing around. If some American or European outfit you’ve never heard of suddenly asks for your candid thoughts on Putin, you don’t start quoting Navalny… you stick to the script. It’s like being called into HR out of nowhere, you don’t spill your actual opinions, you say what keeps the meeting under five minutes.
Do they have a choice?
Then we countries that supply weapons need to step up. That’s a lot of bombs we need to send.
Russia for being a high, modern country clearly don’t want to behave like humans of the 21st century and need a total demolition of their ways.
I would not trust any polls coming from russia. Ever.
So 98 million Russian Civilian deaths are acceptable? Could live with that number
The other 33% are being sent to the front.
Indeed, they rushed to enlist when Putin invaded Ukraine
Like turkey’s voting for Christmas 🙄🫣
How can we make our lives even more sh1t…
Yes, we’ll vote for a man who is happy to kill all of us, and we will thank him…
The stupidity….
But it proves brainwashing works..
I’m Ukrainian
I have 6 relatives in ruzzia
3 years passed and no single fucker asked me if I’m alive. For me that’s 6/6=.. approx… 100%
OP calc seems accurate
Did you know that 97,73% of the voters elected Ceusescu to be their leader, few years before overthrowing, trying and executing him?
The point being – there is no actual meaningful popular opinion polls in Russia. In 2013 the idea of invading Ukraine and splitting with Europe would be ridiculed in Russia as wildly unrealistic and stupid.
This is not at all surprising. Russia needs its propaganda machine to keep the war going and suppress dissent. It is the most effective way to remain in power in Russia. Without it, they would have a regime change in a matter of weeks
