WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A public hearing is set for a proposed rate hike from Evergy. The Kansas Corporation Commission is holding that hearing set for 6 p.m. March 5 as Evergy requests a future rate increase to recover costs for new gas plants and a solar facility. The plants and the facility would be in Douglas, Sumner and Reno counties.
Evergy hasn’t announced the specific number on a proposed rate increase but the KCC is giving an opportunity for customers to make their voices heard. To register to take part in the virtual meeting on March 5, you must register by noon on March 4.
“For persons wishing to watch, but not comment during the public hearing, a live video stream will be available on the KCC YouTube channel,” the commission advised. “The hearing will also be recorded for later viewing.”
In addition to the hearing, the KCC will accept written comments through 5 p.m. on April 7. You can submit comments online, by mail or by calling the KCC at 785-271-3140 or 800-662-0027.
To register for the virtual hearing, to make a comment online or to find further information on the application, go to the KCC’s website (www.kcc.ks.gov) and click on the “Your Opinion Matters” tab.
