Prince Harry is extremely close with Chris Martin these days and thrilled he’s showing up for the Invictus Games – as the prince and wife Meghan make plans to enjoy more couples time with the Coldplay frontman and his on-again girlfriend Dakota Johnson.
“Harry and Chris have been friends for more than ten years, they adore each other,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style, “and the good news is Meghan and Dakota get on brilliantly.”
Chris, 47, joined the headline lineup for the opening ceremony of this year’s Invictus Games, Harry’s philanthropic passion project that he began in 2014 to help wounded servicemen and veterans, inspired by the Warrior Games in the U.S. He even composed the Invictus Anthem, which features heavily during the medal ceremonies at every tournament.
The singer will be joining some other big names, including Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Noah Kahan and Roxanne Bruneau at BC Place in Vancouver on Saturday, February 8, to kick off the games.
While their bromance has been in full swing for a decade, the source notes Harry’s wife Meghan, 43, and Dakota, 35, are also forming their own friendship within their quickly-expanding SoCal social circle.
Despite the fact that “they haven’t had a whole lot of time together since Harry moved to California,” as “Chris is always so busy touring and Dakota’s schedule is crazy too,” the two couples have made it their mission to see each other more. “They live two hours apart so popping over for tea isn’t realistic, they’ve vowed that 2025 will see more hangout sessions with the four of them.”

“They’re working on locking in a weekend where Chris and Dakota can come to the place in Montecito and hang out. The boys can surf and maybe even play some polo, Meghan will cook, and they can all just chill out together.”
“Harry’s really looking forward to spending time with Chris next week after he performs but he’s hoping that won’t be the only time he gets to see him this month, he’s pushing to get some couples’ time in the books.”
As Life & Style previously reported, the Sussexes could use some more A-list friends in their corner after some of their fellow Montecito neighbors were caught “bashing” Meghan over not being involved in their community while speaking to German documentarians.
A second source said for the mega-famous once-royal couple, it’s “uncomfortable to get bashed by these busybodies,” though, “Meghan still loves Montecito.”
“She always says how gorgeous it is, but the neighborhood vibe isn’t totally her speed,” that source added. The Duchess of Sussex “thrives in community with like-minded people, and, as gorgeous as Montecito is, it does have a very small-town vibe.”
Going beyond the confines of their well-to-do suburban community seemed necessary to Harry and Meghan, which means seeking out people they consider their peers who will get their need for privacy. They also recently purchased a sprawling vacation spot in Portugal, near where Harry’s cousin Princess Beatrice spends her summer with her husband.
