  1. I follow a Facebook group of “toolbox addicts” that’s about mechanics toolboxes.  You can guess the political leaning.

Everyone is livid that the small chinesium packages of tools they used to get now get taxed.  The de minimus exemption is the real damaging factor here, not the tariffs.

  2. Just talked to a Canadian friend who seethed about Trump and said the mood up there is very dark. Word is that people are cancelling trips to the US, either for visits or even just transiting. This won’t heal anytime soon.

  3. I know of large grocery stores that have already changed their flyers for the upcoming months to switch from American items to Mexican/Canadian  items and removed anything that says product of USA from the front page.

  4. Canada and Mexico are two of the best neighbors we could ask for. Why we’d tarnish those friendships is something I’ll never understand.

  5. Please keep boycotting and booing us! This country needs to learn a lesson.

  6. The tariff threat is secondary, it’s the jokes/threats about annexing Canada as the 51st state (or worse, a territory), and the mocking and insults disregarding Canada as a sovereign nation.

Not just by the sitting president, but support/complicancy of others that are in legitimate positions of power, the media (ex: fox News), and pretty much the indifference from a good chunk of the US.

Trump and Vance basically threatened us with “if you retaliate, we gonna hurt you even more” and the “we asked nicely, the next course of action won’t be as nice”.

Anyone that were once bullied/abused or be witnessed of knows exactly what that mean.

The idea that US absorbing Canada is no longer an “if” scenario in a distant future for some of us, but a “how and when” .

Quite frankly, it was a glass shattering moment for a lot of us and there is no turning back.

  7. Was going to take the family to Total Archery Challange in Montana.

    Would have dropped $5K +/-

Going to travel donestically or overseas now.

  8. Yeah it sucks. I’m extremely ticked off at Americans. Prices went up “just in case”. Look at all the labour and stress that went in to preparing for the tariffs. My own workplace is filled with uncertainty. Our dollar plunged.

And to top it off, Americans keep going into Canadian subs to try and get us to make *them* feel better.

  9. It’s not even a “threat”, they’ve already made in changes that are going cripple Canadian ecommerce (that was shipping to the US)..

“On February 1, 2025, President Trump signed an executive action that included a clause to **suspend the Section 321 customs de minimis entry process effective February 4, 2025**, which previously allowed shipments under $800 to enter the US duty-free.”

There is a [write-up here](https://dclcorp.com/blog/shipping/section-321-suspended-what-it-means-for-e-commerce-and-global-trade/#:~:text=On%20February%201%2C%202025%2C%20President,enter%20the%20US%20duty%2Dfree). But in short a large portion of Canadian shipments utilize duty-free shipping. There are entire 8 figure++ businesses, e.g. ChitChats that are built strictly around this program. *Many* warehouses/distribution centres close to the US border take advantage of this program. And most medium-large ecomm brands ~~are~~ were shipping using to US customers with the de minimus program.

  10. Every single person I’ve spoken to has brought up #buycanadian this week—this is the most unifying thing to happen in Canada in a long time.

Even in the grocery store everyone is reading every single label to buy Canadian or Anything but American.

I know several people who’ve cancelled upcoming vacations.

  11. Have you ever had a lover or a friend that you were utterly convinced would always be there for you, then out of nowhere they ruthlessly betray you and the illusion shatters and you suddenly realize all along they’ve actually been an abusive narcissist who doesn’t give a flying fuck about you?

That’s what happened, but at a national scale. Canadians are fucking pissed and we won’t forget this.

  12. As a Mexican I stopped consuming everything related to America.

The level of disrespectful was over 9000.

  13. I usually go to a few Mariners games every year, but not this year.

  14. We had been planning a Vegas trip that had been originally cancelled during the pandemic.

Now, with Trump threatening to take over Canada. No way.

I don’t even know if a different president after trump can fix this problem. So much trust has been forever lost.

  15. Ok listen……. It’s time for some real action.

If you want to stop this Trump agenda, go after the Heritage Foundation.

These are the people who are writing the executive orders Trump is signing. THEY are telling Trump what to do. Do you really think Trump is smart enough to pull this off?

These are the people who are keeping the Republican congress and ALL of the major news organizations in lock step. They fund the lawyers. They back the initiatives from Main Street to Wall Street.

Get educated and fight back. Look at their history. Learn what they did during the Regan Administration. Learn about Project 2025.

Protest the Heritage Foundation properties. Draw attention to their places of business. Boycott their financial interests. Make it toxic for businesses to do business with them or their members.

Stop them in local town halls. Protest their events. Make them unwelcome in public forums. Make their businesses unwelcome in the markets. Sue them. Sue their interests. Counter their proposals. Name their leaders and representatives as agents of Project 2025 in public.

Contact the media, encourage stories on them. Contact your congressional leaders and make your opinions about the foundation and project 2025 known. Keep posting and reposting the truth about the foundation on social
Media. Point out their hypocrisy. Their hate. Their agenda. Their ambitions.

Tell your family, friends and kids about their evils. Demand that your clergy cut ties with them. Tell anyone who will listen what their real agenda is.

When Project 2025 initiatives make a mistake, be sure to tag the heritage Foundation. Tag their business interests. Tag the public leaders of those businesses. Point those mistakes out to your friends and family. Your neighbors. Anyone who will listen.

I am NOT advocating nasty or even illegal exposure tactics. I am NOT advocating false accusations. I am simply advocating making their business known to the public. Shining a spotlight on into the shadows.

It’s time to face the real enemy. Go after them. If they falter, the Trump agenda will falter right behind them and we will be one step closer to fixing this mess in the midterms.

  16. It’s sad when you realize that it can take 1 orange turd 2 weeks to ruin a multi-generational friendship between 2 whole nations.

  17. Canadian here.

This shit will probably heal over, but won’t heal is our support for America. We’re boycotting American products. Our next election is probably going to be center around how we can self sustain.

Don’t need our natural resources? That’s fine. FU America, find it somewhere else, and stop crying when we sell our resources to other nations, it’s getting annoying.

    Sincerely,

    A Canadian.

  18. We’ve already lost around $100K in conference attendees from Canada who have said they won’t come to conferences in the US while Trump in President.

  19. MAGA will not learn. They cheer on threats to our allies, they cheer on an unqualified unsecured idiot rifling through our government’s highest security servers, they cheer on an insurrectionist, they cheer on total security leaks, they cheer on the destruction of their own unions, they cheer on whatever the conservative talking points of the day are. The rest of us trying to better society, get some movement on healthcare, on wages, on ANYTHING, and it’s a brick wall. It’s enraging, exhausting, and frankly everyone on this continent deserves better.
I personally wish it was easier to become Canadian. I live close to the border anyway, life wouldn’t change that much for me. I’m thankful to live in a very blue state but on a national level it’s really difficult when half the country decides the law and ethics don’t matter anymore. Crystal clear things were going to turn out like this, absolutely crystal clear. It sucks that those of us who know better, AND the rest of the world it seems, are going to be punished anyway because a loudmouth orange bully wants everyone to think he’s the best. It’s sickening. There’s more I’d like to say, but I’ll remain civil.

Assuming things don’t go completely to shit, and I’m not optimistic about that, but assuming things don’t- a civil war doesn’t happen, assassinations don’t happen, government remains functional- ASSUMING that voting is still fair- in two years all of the House and 1/3 of the Senate is up for grabs. It wouldn’t take too much for Dems to get some control back, and if Dems can get both… and if voting is NOT fair, we all have a much bigger problem.

  20. The vibe in Canada is that no one wants to live in the united shitholes of america.
