I never understood why Russia didn’t take this approach from the beginning if there was a genuine security concern over NATO expansion. The reality is this really is a revanchist war effort to restore something to Russia that Putin and other Russian nationalists believe was unjustly lost.
If the Kremlin is genuine, however unlikely that is, it would be an indicator of how dire the situation is being perceived in Russia. 13k KIA on the Russian side and more everyday for what could easily have been brokered over the course of this year were all parties committed to diplomacy over, say, a war of aggression. Not to mention the suffering in Ukraine and the damage to the Russian economy.
Austrian model is being surround by NATO and friendly countries?
