US President Donald Trump has picked Michael E. Kavoukjian as US Ambassador to Norway. He made the announcement on social media.

“Michael is a brilliant attorney, who currently serves as a Senior Partner at White & Case, where he has led complex commercial litigation teams around the World. He previously served our Country as a CIA Operations Officer. Michael is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School,” Trump said.

As lawyer, Mr. Kavoukjian represented leading families and financial institutions worldwide in estate planning and fiduciary litigation. From 1994 to 1998 he was on leave to the U.S. government, where his duties included acting as special adviser to the U.S. Mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Kavoukjian holds an AB from Stanford University and a JD from Harvard Law School.
