Coyotes is literally around the corner from this spot and I’d call that a nightclub
That’s bullshit – what kind of a city doesn’t have a nightclub? I’m particularly annoyed as it’s about the only one I’d look forward to going to.

Seriously only ONE nightclub in Galway.
That’s genuinely a shocker to say the least.
Ireland is no country for young people, sick of all the old cunts here saying that it’s great
Behind the Skeff? Fantastic place as is. Does Galway really need more hotel beds?
The nightclub scene has really died in Ireland. Dublin isn’t much better. It used to be such a huge thing. Even towns like Ballina had a bunch of clubs (5 if I remember correctly). What happened? I thought getting gussied up, listening to bad dance music, getting shitfaced, dancing badly and trying to get the shift was a thing young people just universally enjoyed. Apparently not.
Dear Planning Board…
We. Don’t. Need. Any. More. Hotels.
Nightlife in Ireland has been dying for over 10 years, it’s coming to it’s final stages now where all we have left is pubs and Coppers-like establishments.
Dominick Street is about to get a lot busier I’d say.
Is it partially that the entertainment market has moved on to late-night pubs with music as an option, rather than pure nightclubs.
Kids these days don’t want chart dance they want absolute stompers that they can gurn to while in a k hole. That’s why the nightclubs are dying.
They make it sound as if there is no night life in Galway but the reality is most people go to the late night pubs like the quays, the skeff, róisín Dubh, the front door and busker browns, from what I remember it’s mostly first year college student who went to the clubs
Miss the rural nightclubs. Bootcut and brown shoes everywhere. Good times.
From the ages 18-21 I lived for nightclubbing in Galway. Ended up in a nightclub 3 (sometimes 4) nights a week. And it’s partly because we had different options. I could go out with the college crowd during the week and the work crowd at the weekend and have gone to a different club every night. Different crowds, different music, it never got boring
Grew out of it eventually. But back then it would have been inconceivable that all the clubs would eventually close. Still hard to believe now
I was in college in Galway not too long ago and there was 4 nightclubs, things changed quickly.
Everyone I know goes to late bars now, and I’d say the average age in those late bars is going down.
Finished college there in 2016 and there was four nightclubs, absolutely crazy that in six years that’s down to zero. Not really a nightclub goer anymore but if you’re into dance music or just like going to a club it’s nice to have the option.
Sadly Dublin soon will follow.
What is the obsession with hotels in this country, they seem to be popping up everywhere.
Fuck hotels and hotel developers and everyone who grants planning permission for them while we’re in the midst of our housing crisis. Every developer that applies plans for hotels for approval is a burden on the system that is already struggling to find enough builders and materials for any new projects that might actually help provide housing. It’s like 50% of new developments seem to be fucking hotels.
I’m just wondering what do people do nowadays when they want to go out
I just stay inside and play video games
Twiggs, The Oasis, The International, The Oslo, The Castle….. all Salthill, all gone!
Seems so weird there’s going to be literally 0 nightclubs, why doesn’t someone start one seems like a great business if you have no competition.
I’m 19. Why do people even go to nightclubs? Go to a bar/pub
To be honest I think covid has changed things and our thinking as well. I’ve rarely gone out since pubs reopened while before hand I’d be out Thursday Friday and Saturday night. I might head out to catch up with mates or watch a match or grab a pint if I’m in town during the day but gone are the days of living for the weekend sesh.
That’s fucking depressing
This is so sad
Last niteclub in Galway?
Fuck, when I was in college in Sligo back 15 or so years ago Sligo town alone had 6 or 7 niteclubs.
What’s happened to nitelife in Ireland? Never realized it had gotten so bad. Not sure there’s even a nitelcub left in Sligo town now.
The first company to open a new proper nightclub in Galway is going to clean the place out of it by the sounds of it.
Bit sad that the nightlife in Ireland is dying on its feet. G-town had like 6 nightclubs to choose from when I lived there, they weren’t all techno-palaces by any measure but they were fun and they added variety to the nightlife. I’d miss seeing all the stampers on shop street if I was still into clubbing!
I think our licensing laws need major reform to tackle this issue. Clubbing is very much short and sharp affair with the nature of closing times, meaning proprietors can’t really get as much money out of patrons as they would if they were allowed stay open a hours longer and this is obviously a problem for making these types of establishments viable.

Last nightclub? Really? There’s no more left?
That’s sad.
Had some great nights in Galway.
GPO/Carbon, CPs, Club K, Cuba, Karma
