Cristian Pistol, the general director of CNAIR, announced on Friday the signing of contracts for the design of four new bridges over the Prut River, during an event held in Chișinău, in the presence of Romanian and Moldovan officials.

„Today in Chișinău (Republic of Moldova), we signed contracts for the design of four new bridges over the Prut River, with a total value of 4.4 million lei (excluding VAT),” stated Cristian Pistol.

The objectives that will be designed are:

Stânca Bridge (Romania) – Costești (Republic of Moldova)Bumbăta Bridge (Romania) – Leova (Republic of Moldova)Fălciu Bridge (Romania) – Leca (Republic of Moldova)Răducăneni Bridge (Romania) – Bărboieni (Republic of Moldova)

The Feasibility Studies contracts were concluded between CNAIR and the company LIKE CONSULTING SRL, each having a value of 1.1 million lei (excluding VAT) and a duration of 12 months. The funding is provided by the State Budget of Romania.

“The four new bridges, to be built after the Feasibility Studies are completed, will ensure an increase in transport capacity between the two states and will contribute to the connectivity of the road infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova with Romania and, implicitly, with the transport networks of the European Union,” explained the head of CNAIR.

Additionally, this year the tender will be launched for the design and construction of a new bridge over the Prut River, at Albița, which will have four lanes and will be financed through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Pistol specified.

Simultaneously, the contract for the construction of the bridge complex at Ungheni is ongoing, which will connect Iași County to Ungheni District in the Republic of Moldova. The project must be completed no later than the end of 2026.
