President Trump promised repeatedly that he would halve electricity and gas prices within 12 months. But his new 10% tariff on China and proposed 10-25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico would make gas prices and utility bills go substantially up, not down. Meanwhile, his war on cheap clean energy makes the problem even worse.

If anyone honestly believed that “drill baby drill” was going to lower prices you’re a bigger moron than he is. Explain to me why big oil would speed up production on a finite resource.
The US imports oil from Canada. Tariffs against Canada make the price of oil go up. It’s not complicated.
His tariffs are going to create a global trade war with the US which is going to greatly hurt US GDP. The US GDP is about 10% exports and 16% imports. This means a quarter of their economy could be significantly impacted by Trump’s isolationist agenda. He thinks he is bargaining but most of the people he is messing with are not. The inflation he is going to cause in the US is going to be small compared to the job losses. Ironically, Tariffs in themselves are not a bad thing when applied in a targeted fashion. He just doesn’t have the intelligence to realize this and he has only yes men around him so he isn’t likely to figure it out until it is too late. Just my read on it. Toss in the constant threats to sovereign nations and allies are quickly turning sour on the US.
