Rant: Drivers using left lane the whole way round a roundabout … specifically Larne Road roundabout in Ballymena

  1. Are drivers no longer taught that on a roundabout with no special markings, if going past “12 o’clock” you have to use the right lane and then move to the left just after passing the exit before the one you want?

Tired of drivers going all the way round in the left lane and cutting me up when I need to move over.

Specifically, on the Larne Road Roundabout in Ballymena. People coming from Ballymena (Larne Road Link) to go to Kells (Liminary Road). Grinds my gears to no end.

  2. We can have this argument all we want but we’ll just be going round in circles

  3. I make a point of moving over early when coming this way to go onto the dual carriageway towards Antrim. If you come round in the right lane, you’re guaranteed someone will come on from Moorfields Rd and block you from moving over. It’s a wil’ big roundabout though – the conventional rules tend to be forgotten on it.

  4. It’s every man for himself when driving in Ballymena

  5. 1st or 2nd ( straight through) stay left, the rest inside until moving over at reaching the last entrance on to the round about, thus making them aware your about to lave at the exit just after them.

  6. Yeah noticed it at almost every roundabout at some point. Certain ones it’ll happen more than others for no obvious reason

  7. You expect people to know left from right in Ballymena?

  8. This roundabout to be fair was always odd because for many many decades it was never completed. It was just one massive roundabout for no reason to Larne and penny bridge. Now it’s complete you got lots of people who still use it the same. Even though it’s wrong. The M2 under it was a dirt track since like ever until they finished it like 10 years ago.

  9. Wonder has anyone ever tried to race round it nascar style
