Hi everyone, first time posting here. I just moved in a SATO apartment and they said I have internet connection in the rent so I went to telia website, bought a router, connected it but no web connection. I called Telia Helppi but they said that I need to make the right connection in the box on the wall (see photo) but the could not guide me at all and they said "try everything". Do any of you know how to do the connections? I don't want to call again and get pissed off about this, I have better thongs to do.

  1. I’m guessing you need to connect the modem to “ATK”.

    “Eteinen ATK”, “oloh ATK” and “MH ATK” correspong to the foyer, living room, and bedroom respectively, and you need to connect the output from your modem to these to make the contacts in those rooms work.

  2. Put the cable to ATK and where ever you wanna use your router on.

    MH is bedroom

    Oloh is living room

    Eteinen is hallway

    So if you want router to living room, you connect ATK and Oloh and connect the router to the Ethernet port in that room

    You can also connect router directly to ATK if it fits the electric box

  3. The easiest to just test that the connection works is to put ethernet cable from ATK to your routers WAN port. Thats it, internet should come.

    After you have checked it works you might want to move the router somewhere else. If you want it in your living room then put cable from ATK to oloh ATK and in livingroom find the ethernet port there and put cable from there to your routers WAN port

  4. If i had to quess, the port with just “ATK” label is the port where the connection comes to your apartment. If you want to leave the router to the closet where these ports are you can plug the “ATK” to “WAN” port on the router and then plug every routers “LAN” port to those other ATK ports (this last step is optional as it just gives you wired connection to different parts of the apartment.

    Those others are from left to right enterance hall, living room and bedroom. If you want to put your router to one of these rooms instead of the closet, you can connect wire directly from ATK port to the correct ATK port and then plug the router’s WAN port to the ethernet port at the corresponding room

  5. Eteinen ATK = Hallway network port

    Oloh ATK = Living room network port

    MH V Puh & MH O Puh = Bedroom telephone ports
    V = left, O = right

    Puhelin ports (2x) = Extra telephone ports

    ATK = internet

  6. ATK is your internet uplink, depending on your apartment setup it goes to “WAN” or “LAN” port on the router.

    Then you just use short cables to connect the rest of the LAN ports to each room’s port on the left (Eteinen, Oloh., MH)

    The 3 left connectors are basically an extension cord to your wall jackets on each room. You need to connect the ATK (Internet uplink) port to the rest of the rooms through a switch or router.

    If you want to use Wifi, I suggest to buy a separate access point that you can plug in any of the rooms as these metal enclosures are not great for wifi signal.

    Cheap unmanaged switch is like 30 euros and WiFI access point depending on your needs.

    I would put the switch (no wifi, like in the picture, 20-30 euros) in the cabinet and based on your apartment layout add wifi access point or your router (that you bought, that probably has wifi) in the room with best connectivity, I would guess that is the OLOH (livin room).

    I would put PoE switch in the cabinet, so you can have power from the same network socket to your APs for example, less cables: this is a good option: [https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/677722/TP-LINK-TL-SG105PE-5-porttinen-PoE-kytkin](https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/677722/TP-LINK-TL-SG105PE-5-porttinen-PoE-kytkin) 53€
