Simon Easterby warns against slow start
During his press briefing in Dublin, before Ireland flew out to Edinburgh, interim head coach Simon Easterby warned that a slow start could be punished by the Scots.
“We have to bring intent,” said Easterby, “and we have to bring a start to the game that is going to be difficult for Scotland because we know how quick they started against Italy.”
“The start of the [England] game would have been an area where we felt we weren’t quite achieving what we wanted to achieve and obviously at half time we felt like we were in a good space,” he added.
“I think there are areas of the game, you reflect on and think, ‘That could have been better and we could have done that differently’.”

Ireland player ratings throughout 2025 Six Nations
Throughout this Six Nations championship, we will be running team announcement and big match liveblogs, which will include our Ireland player ratings.
Their opening game of the championship saw Jamison Gibson-Park and Dan Sheehan score highest, with 9/10. Finlay Bealham, Mack Hansen and James Ryan were the three starters that scored steady but unspectacular 6/10s.
Another person that will be watching the championship closely is Ireland head coach Andy Farrell. He is on sabbatical from his IRFU job as he carries out his duties as British & Irish Lions head coach.
