  1. Serious question, would Africa ever reach a point where it didn’t need aid?

  2. My partner works for a nonprofit that delivers aid to Africa and they said that a majority of the people there actually prefer Trump over anyone from the Dems cause they thought the latter were more eager to intrude on their values. How ironic it is to see this report.

  3. My South African coworker told me that 7 of his friends are now laid off because of the aid cuts.

    Their jobs?

Pharmaceutical production and distribution of HIV/AIDS medications. Used to be a guaranteed field of gainful employment and quality of life in Subsaharan Africa, but not anymore….

  4. That’s fine. A majority of African nations were on China and Russia’s side. Why keep giving aid to countries that support autocracies? Not to mention how large amounts of money have been siphoned by corrupt governments.

  5. Dear African nations,

Don’t worry, China or Russia will step in to have your back.

  6. African Nations-‘We don’t want to be colonized’. Also African Nations ‘but keep sending us money’.

  7. Why is it the US’s obligation to prop up these countries/continents? Take care of your own people Africa.

  8. The US isn’t the world’s piggy bank, that being said. No one is stopping you from using your own money to donate to various causes.

  9. Its surprising even to me how many projects and institutions across the world are just funded by american taxpayers

  10. Even if the US sends trillions, Africa will never be able to stand on their own. Why should they if they receive free aid all the time? The world should just let them figure it out on their own. Too bad that China and Russia will now sweep in and steal millions of square miles of land.

  11. China is going to swoop in and farm the entire place for minerals.

  12. Africa has had humans or humanoid ancestors for 2m million years. It’s not clear if the many billions of aid over last 50 years has really helped or not. They are not weaning off aid, they require more aid every year. If international community had never given a penny in aid to start, it’s not clear if they would better or worse off today. My guess is they would have been better off without us.

  13. Not a popular opinion, but what about letting the African countries fix their own problems themselves? The west has been giving them aid for decades (and yes, life expectency has improved) but they still give us shit in return. Not a fan of Trump but I think the umbelica cord needs to be cut off from African countries and they can solve their own problems on their own.

  14. Well, perhaps the EU can step up and send billions of their tax dollars to Africa. It’s time for the US to aid it’s own citizens.

  15. Say bye bye to American soft power in the region. Say hello to unchallenged Chinese economic imperialism.

  16. Africa is owned by China. Why can’t China step in and help?

  17. US AID agency is like saying ATM machine.

US AID isn’t US Aid. It is United States Agency for International Development. It was created at the behest of the President, not by an act of congress, in the 1970s. It will provide Aid, yes. To citizens, to dictators, to rebels, to terrorists. To anyone advancing the US power and hegemon. If a country is being a thorn in the side of the US then USAID will attempt to destabilize the country. By funding rebels against the government, by introducing destabilizing cultural elements, or by simply patronizing news organizations antagonistic to the regime.

Please do not confuse the two. One is CIA lite, the other is world FEMA. This is US AID not US Aid.

  18. Out of curiosity though, where do all these countries tax dollars go? Countries like America has spent trillions on these African countries, where is all that money? What problems has it solved?

Also, what do these countries spend their own tax dollars on? Like say, Nigeria… They have a government. Where do all the Nigerian tax dollars go?

The same place as the trillions America has sent to them?

Id just like some accountability and receipts before sending more… I think thats not too much to ask for…. Making sure our tax dollars dont just make American politicians and African politicians families super rich… while the poor africans just continue to suffer.

  19. Seems like an opportunity for China and Russia to gain more influence in that region.

  20. I stopped practicing religion nearly 20 years ago, but I still remember its core teachings. Yet, some who call themselves ‘Christians’ seem to have forgotten. Share this with your devout family members and ask—would Jesus have done the same?

    **Ezekiel 16:49 (NIV)**
*’Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed, and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.’*

    **Luke 10:31-32 (NIV)**
*’A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.’*

**Matthew 25:41-45 (NIV)** *(The Sheep and the Goats)*
*”Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’”*

*”They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’”*

*”He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'”*

    **Proverbs 21:13 (NIV)**
*”Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.”*

  21. Foreign Aid does not work. it creates dependency and promotes greed and corruption

  22. Africa has all the resources to be a collection of very successful high standard of living nations except that their societal structure from top to bottom is completely corrupt.

As such, it’s best we stop taking money from poor people in the USA to waste lining the pockets of rich corrupt people in Africa. I’m not convinced that by doing this and forcing African leadership to handle their own easily solvable problems that they won’t actually be better off because of this.

  23. Nop

    Am African.

There so much corruption 99% of the aid goes to generals pockets

Ur tax money is only helping our corrupt leaders.

  24. If your mission is vitally important to millions of people, that doesn’t mean you get to waste a little money on the side teaching Sri Lankan journalists how not to use gendered pronouns.

It means you have MORE of a responsibility to not waste a dime. To be so efficient and effective so that you can truly help as many people as you can.

Some people think their righteous intentions makes them immune to criticism. It does not. I blame them.
