  1. > ‘breastaurant’

I believe in today’s climate, we should call it a ‘chestaurant’.
    Equality, and all that.

  2. On the one hand, I’ve been to the Bristol & Nottingham ones and had a grand old time.

On the other had, it’s VERY regressive, isn’t it? Can absolutely understand why people wouldn’t want one in their city.

  3. Went to a Hooters when I was staying with a friend in the USA. To experience the culture obvs. Even by American standards it was cringe, plastic and creepy.

  4. No one’s forcing the lasses to work there, nor are people being forced to eat there. Some right miserable old farts in this country

  5. The sheer horror of creating new jobs in a region that is struggling with mass unemployment. Let’s just give women the right of choice if they want to work there and earn a living shall we. The uniform is a vest and shorts not a bdsm outfit.

  6. I have no issue with it. I went in one in Florida as a gay man and the food was great.

Edit: On reflection, I’ve realised I’ve got the wrong place. I went to “BJ’s”. Which isn’t as it sounds.

  7. Seems creepy as fuck but “you do you” for whoever goes there I suppose

Anyone else think the customers are going to be all weirdos who only go because they’ll be allowed to harass the workers?

  8. God help us if we ever get a Twin Peaks over here, there aren’t enough pearls in the world to clutch

  9. An interesting idea; lonely men are big business.

We have dying high streets and it’s not uncommon for pretty women to be hired as front of house for a lot of restaurants and retail. Hooters just lean into that even more than normal.

Let it open and see if it thrives; we need to increase the number of reasons for people to visit town centres in person if we want to keep them.

  10. Perhaps my slang is out of date, however a restaurant staffed entirely by people with large noses would be targeting a decidedly niche audience.

  11. Their mistake is launching it in Newcastle – Those waitresses look positively well wrapped up for winter compared with what is generally worn as clubbing gear up there.

  12. Hooters is like a lightning rod for morons and I don’t mean the people who visit it.

It’s no big deal, it’s just TGI Fridays except the waitresses wear tight clothes. It’s not worth the pearl-clutching. It’ll be pretty sad if the UK finds itself even more upset than the god-bothering Americans.

  13. I went to meet a friend in the Prague Hooters before it closed, and the stunning waitresses made it even more depressing.

  14. Hard to see it getting popular outside of America. It’s a bit cringe by local standards, a restaurant where you go to look at the waitresses.

  15. We have a hooters in nottingham it is just a cheap wings and sports bar. I have been with my girlfriend before, it really isn’t that scandalous. The women wear like 100 denier tights under their shorts and didn’t have any more cleavage showing than you would see on a nor Al night out. There are plenty of strippers in Newcastle city centre, I’m sure their moral fibre can withstand a hooters…

  16. I can’t imagine it doing all that well, but what do I know? We just don’t have the casual-strip-club-guy culture here that the US does, and I feel like this place has 90% the same clientele.

  17. Bigg market? How will they convince Geordie lasses to wear that many clothes?

  18. I went to one of these in Mexico, and twenty years ago.

It was a fast food restaurant with attractive waitresses. It was about as sexy as a… sports bar?
It wasn’t a big deal at all.

  19. The tips girls can make working one of these jobs can literally pay their way through University. No other ‘student’ job can do that. Not even close.

It’s a bit of fun – the food kinda sucks though , based on the nottingham one – think bad TGIs. Would be nice if they fixed that, but i guess quality food isn’t exactly their angle.

  20. There’s already similar venues, shark bar in Newcastle next to the stadium seems to be staffed entirely by young attractive women wearing very short shorts and tight fitting tops.

The food and drink is a rip and it’s very poor quality, I’m not saying all the staff are bad but this is what happens when you hire people based on their looks rather than their skills.

I don’t know why the sexual attractiveness of your waiter or waitress comes into deciding where to eat or drink unless your a letch.

I don’t think it shouldn’t be allowed or anything I just hope it doesn’t succeed

  21. Love me some hooters wings. I’m all for this expansion.

Side note, plastic surgeons in Newcastle about to get some increased demand.

  22. Not even the water they serve is compliant with British food standards.

  23. Urgh!

I really hope none of our lasses want to participate in any of that American shit.

  24. Is this news? We have cayote ugly and strip clubs already

  25. People will cheer on some girl going through a 1000 dicks for OF as some great idea of female liberation but then act like waitresses in a skimpy clothes is regressive exploitation.

  26. This is horrible. I should go to this new place and investigate it for you guys so you can know how bad it is. I do this as a selfless service to you all. You’re welcome. 😇
