  1. i think about this house, beautiful historic house in one of the most idealic real estate locations in the world and its tied to this. I wonder what they do with the site.

  2. It’s been sold time and again since his death with various plans for replacing it.

Don’t know who owns it or how it would miraculously burst into flames after all the years of lying in ruin.

  3. I really don’t get this. It has some Scottish mountaineering historical significance and has been sold from the Saville estate years ago. These attacks just prevent redevelopment by the new owners.

  4. There was spray paint all over that house about some other SO called “Decca Heggie” from memory? Posters all over of the guy’s face etc

  5. I’d buy the land nice section just had that shithole of a house left on it

  6. Wasn’t there plans for this site released recently? Also it’s a shame it’s gone as despite Saville, it had significant mountaineering links (Hamish McInnes). It was in some state, though.

  7. I think it would’ve been better to keep it, all the graffiti and insults on it kinda of turned it into an art piece

  8. About time. It should have been burnt down years ago

  9. I assume the house has been sold since Saville? If so this is a proper cunty thing to do.

  10. The guy that owns it had been trying to get planning permission to tear down the house and build a new cottage since he bought it back in 2021. The locals were wanting it turned into a museum for Hamish MacInnes, the owner wanted to build a modern cottage. He finally got planning permission approved almost a year ago but the last time I was over that way it still looked the same. Maybe if it burns to the ground he’ll actually start work on it.

  11. A house out in the middle of nowhere and you happen to drive past the exact moment its on fire? 🤔 very suspicious lol /s

  12. Is this recently
Drove by that hell hole 2 days ago

  13. Such a waste of a good property. There is a huge demand for housing in the highlands. That would have done a family. The person was horrid, not the house

  14. A developer has been trying to get permission to demolish it and build a modern house in its place for years. Is there much demand for student flats in Glencoe?

  15. Why do people keep attacking the house? The house isn’t a nonce.

  16. Worth more as a plot than house for the current owner.

  17. TIL, Glencoe is in the boundary of Glasgow City Council.

  18. Hillfire season and understaffed and remote fire service. Idiots

  19. I think it’s been in someone else’s ownership for a long time. But at least it will be developed now.

  20. Arsonist hope the person or person’s get caught

  21. So some poor bastard needs to go put a fire out?

    Wel done 👏🏻

  22. In Scotland, the chances of a Dragon just fucking shit up and then dissapearing / creating a new Loch or Glen through whipping itself to death, is close to… but never fully zero. This time the Dragon did a good job.

  23. Would be better off considering the history/context of the area with any new building, rather than making it a private property then expecting it not to be vandalised

A small memorial section or POI for the victims would also be a nice touch & a sensible way to address, yeah, it is associated with Savile & we should think of the victims, treating it as a place to understand the significance & pay respects to them

That seems a good balance if it’s something suitable for rural exploration that replaces it being just a nice private property & also addresses the elephant in the room & makes it feel like a place to pay respects not just let an evil man define an entire area where it needs burned down & vandalised forever

  24. People are just using the fact he owned it as a guise to exercise vandalism, same with all the graffiti. The place had (good) history before JS owned its and it’s not been in the estate for a while. I know it’s being demolished anyway though not sure about its replacement.

  25. This is and always will be Hamish’s house. That nonce owned it for a while, but it was never his. It should be a museum/ monument to the genius that invented the modern ice axe and mountain rescue stretcher.

  26. Anyone else seeing the dragon’s head breathing fire in the Pic #1? Just me?
