Czechia put on a strong performance in front of supportive crowds in the final leg of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour, which also served as Czechia’s last tune up prior to the 2025 Women’s World Championships which will also take place in Czechia.

In their opening game of this stop on the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour, Czechia handed Finland an uncharacteristically lopsided loss beating Finland 7-2.

While Czechia had most of their PWHL players on board, it was Czechia’s youth that stepped up in their win over Finland as Tereza Plosova scored a pair, and Barbora Jurickova had a goal and two assists. Also scoring for Czechia were Adela Sapovalivova, Tereza Vanisova, and Noemi Neubauerova. Klara Peslarova was solid in net for Czechia stopping 24 shots in front of a rambunctious Czech crowd of 2,685.

Finland’s main gap in this event was the absence of their top goaltenders, Sanni Ahola and Emilia Krykko who remained with their NCAA team.

In Czechia’s second game of the event, they doubled up Switzerland 4-2 in font of 2,998 fans. Toronto Sceptres forward Noemi Neubauerova scored twice in the win, while fellow PWHL players Katerina Mrazova and Tereza Vanisova had Czechia’s other goals.

For Czechia, the result was exactly what they wanted. They wanted to show Europe that they are the team to beat, and also show Canada and USA that they are closing the gap.

“The result is where we wanted to be,” said Neubauerova. We want to move away from Europe and move closer to Canada and America. I think we have shown it with the results. We still have another level in the game, where we can move.”

Czechia will get to test this growth in April as they host the World Championships in České Budějovice.
