Ukraine: No presidential election in 2025?

1. It won’t be incredibly stupid for Ukraine to hold an election during a war where their media can be easily influenced by the enemy and millions of their people are under enemy occupation. 3 years is not that long of a time for a government to hold power anyway.

   Now if the war is still going on 2027 or 2028 then yeah sure hold an election. But now does not seem like the best time.

2. I’m sure it would be fair with millions of refugees all over the world and 20% of Ukraine under Russian occupation. And let’s not forget the hundreds of thousands of soldiers on the front line. Only a fool would demand elections right now.

3. >  Ukraine’s constitution prohibits the holding of elections under martial law. Moscow’s response to this is that it is prepared to negotiate with Zelenskyy, but would not sign a settlement to end the war until a new presidential election had been held in Ukraine.

   It shouldn’t be up to Russia to dictate how Ukraine functions.  That’s a bug reason this war is even happening.

   And I’m sure they have absolutely no intention of meddling in that election. /s

4. One thing I think is worthy of noting on the election point regardless if you are pro Russia or Ukraine: this is going to be a source of foreign western pressure. Not from Poland or Germany or France I bet, but the US and UK? I could totally see them begin to push zelenskyy and Ukrainian govt for elections to be held for various reasons, especially if a peace treaty gets proposed by Trump that zelenskyy doesn’t agree with.

5. If any African or Asian country had done what Zelensky did with stopping elections, western media and governments would have gone berserk in saying how fascism is rising.

   People from Africa or Asia should return the favor and say “Zelensky needs to stop being a warmonger and hold elections for the sake of democracy”.
