Denzel Washington doesn’t care about his Gladiator II Oscars snub: ‘I’ve been around too long’

I’ve got — I don’t wanna say other fish to fry, but there’s a reality at this age. Going back to what I was saying: The beginning of wisdom is understanding. I’m getting wiser, working on talking less and learning to understand more — and that’s exciting.”

  6. Snub? What snub?

    That movie and his performance were no where near what Denzel is capable of.

    Dude has 2 Oscars, and has a couple real snubs like Malcolm X and Hurricane.

  7. To be fair, it wasn’t an Oscar worthy performance either. He acting was wildly out of place for a historical piece and at times just felt like he was doing Equalizer or Training Day. Denzel is great, but his tone and vernacular didn’t match the setting for this movie at all.

  10. The man has two Oscar’s, rich, and been acting for over 40 years I think? He is one of the greatest actors of all time, he doesn’t have anything to prove. He chooses his roles and doesn’t have to audition bc he’s Denzel fucking Washington.

  11. I liked the movie, and I liked him in it, but he didn’t get snubbed….not by a long shot. He was fun to watch because it looked like he was having a blast in it.

  13. “Oscar snub” for his role in a cash-grab sequel? One would think that everyone involved in the making of this movie understood what kind of movie they were making

  14. The movie was terrible and so was the acting. None of the acting stood out at all. The only noteworthy thing is that none of the performances were good in a Ridley Scott film.

  23. We just finished Gladiator 2. It was trash. The costumes were cool, but nothing else about it was worthy of an Oscar nomination, let alone acting. For anyone in any role. Except maybe Dondus.

  27. I love Denzel but his role in Gladiator 2 isn’t anywhere close to Oscar material and for some reason he is the only actor who doesn’t try to at least use some kind of accent and cadence. Just ends up sounding like modern Denzel cosplaying Macrinus.
