  1. Remember, if the ocean starts receeding fast on your beach, grab another drink and enjoy it. No need to die tired.

  2. Strike slip mechanism so less risk of a tsunami

  3. Oh man, I really hope there is no major tsunami

  4. My friends in the cayman islands right now. Texted an hour after the earthquake and he had no clue anything happened

  5. Well, The US Tsunami Warning Center puts the wave height of the tsunami wave at 30cm to 1m (1-3ft) at the Caymans and 1-3m (3-10ft) at the Cuban coast. That’s dangerous enough that I hope the beaches were evacuated but it’s not a “big one”. Looks like we dodged a bullet here.

  6. Minus tsunami concerns…pray for our Central American brethren.

If a single volcano so much as coughs, all of Central America suffers.

  7. The Cayman Islands just had a seven pointer as well.

  8. Ok, here is the evaluation from the Warning center:

    “EVALUATION
    ———-

    * AN EARTHQUAKE WITH A PRELIMINARY MAGNITUDE OF 7.6 OCCURRED NORTH OF HONDURAS AT 723 PM AST ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 8 2025.

    * EVALUATION OF ALL AVAILABLE DATA INDICATE THAT A DESTRUCTIVE TSUNAMI FOR PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS WAS NOT GENERATED BY THIS EARTHQUAKE.”

    So back to sleep, folks!

  9. Yikes I’m in a cruise in the close of the virgin islands need to get the high ground Anakin!

  10. I’m in Cancun on vacation. I was laying in bed and definitely felt the shaking.

  11. Everyone was rooting for a asteroid in the Chiefs v Eagles super bowl. Maybe a flood? Would it be possible for a tsunami to hit New Orleans? Or are The Yucatan peninsula and Cuba enough protection?

  12. I hope it doesn’t cause damages nor injure anyone. I think the whole world needs a bit of luck this year. 🥹

  13. If it turns terrible there will only be a busy signal at the American aid system. Guess South America will have to come to the rescue? But it won’t be America.
