Why some Hungarian nationalists would support Russia is absolutely beyond me. Russia’s military intervention on Austria’s side was instrumental in crushing the 1848 Hungarian Revolution. Communist Russia was the nation which enforced communism on Hungary and occupied it for 45 years. Communist Russia was the nation which brutally crushed the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Any Hungarian with a shred of dignity and national pride should absolutely hate Russia with every fiber of their being.
