Thousands leave as fresh tremors shake Greece’s Santorini • FRANCE 24 English

Thousands of people were leaving the Greek island of Santorini by sea and air for a third day Tuesday as an unprecendented series of earthquakes shook the top travel destination. Some 6,000 people have already left the island, known for its spectacular cliffside views and a dormant volcano, which has been hit by hundreds of tremors since last week, officials said.

  1. For those who don't know. Santorini is the largest sea caldera on earth. Home to the Minoan civilization 5000 years ago as it was a important center of commerce. And today one of Greece 6000 gorgeous and breathtakingly unique islands among Greece's breathtaking and incredibly diverse mainland. Greece is heaven. And it's not strange there are earthquakes as Greece lies on 4 tectonic earth plates coming together in Greece. The African plate, the European plate, the Asian plate and the 4th plate crushed in between

  5. ive been through so many earth quakes here in California shakers and rollers running away isnt an option we deal with it…and live with it and reinforce homes and buildings that are older and new construction with requirements for quakes…
