  1. Before we get into the standard argument about “how do you define an SUV” that we have whenever this comes up, the Paris fees are just based on weight. Any car weighing more than 1600kg pays more, I think. So, yes, that does include some estate cars too and it also doesn’t catch some cars that’re called an ‘SUV’.

And, yes, the limits are higher for EVs.

    Here’s an article on them:

  2. Last time I checked it’s nearly impossible to park in central London?

  3. Camden Council already charge a 25-50% surcharge for diesels.

  4. Sounds good. Most Londoners don’t drive a car, so this seems fair to ask those that do to pay up.

  5. That SUV parking surtax doesn’t apply to locals (if we stick to the same principle). So it wouldn’t bother the paupers in Chelsea anyway.

  6. What about people who are disabled and have to use SUVs to store their disabled equipment?

  7. Anything to de-insensitive cars that are too big for our roads. Something has to change

  8. I feel like most people who have SUV’s would either be rich/pretty well off and trust me the rich do not care about parking. They will park where they want and pay the £80 ticket with no issue orrrr its gonna be families with a few kids on a day out and will probably be struggling as it is?

  9. What? A good idea actually being implemented AND working?

    Oh my!

  10. They already do this in London, dependent on local authority.

  11. How can I live out my Devil Wears Prada dreams now??

  12. someone told me today that England is turning into a third world country…
