Charities warn fuel poverty could double in a year

  1. New builds really ought to still have chimneys. We could burn the landlords for fuel. Nah but seriously, a fireplace warms the whole room and firewood is easy to find.

  2. Europe needs to strategize its energy policy based on the new reality that Russian oil and gas may be blockaded for years to come. The UK is lucky to have North Sea energy reserves, but still faces an uncertain road ahead.

  3. My colleagues flat on Sweden has no heating. It’s built facing south with large quadruple glazed windows. It has minimal windows on the north side. All hot water from showering, washing machine, etc goes through a heat recovery system so only cold water goes down the drain. It’s super insulated. It’s too hot, she has to open windows to cool it in winter….it’s possible to build like this in the UK, if we move away from mock Georgian style housing, with Mediterranean style insulation. Councils keep introducing emissions charging for cars while agreeing poorly insulated housing builds. Go figure !
