They’ve been doing that for years. Last time I got a ticket in Mechelen must be over five years ago and it was wrapped in a plastic bag as well.

Mechelen needs to upgrade their policy. In this digital age it’s not that hard to send people e-mails or letters to their address after the fact. There’s zero benefit in putting it under a windshield.

And a lot of complaints of people having to scrap together whats left of the fine after a heavy rainfall.
Funny how fines now come in the same packaging as weed.

maybe make sure you just don’t get one? after all you can still use the bags for something else if you really care about the environment. like give them to your local weed dealer

Problem is paper gets wet, sun came, dry the paper, ink on the paper is transfered to the windshield and we have a mess.
Probably they received complaints maybe, somebody got frustrated by pieces of dried paper, who knows?

It’s actually strange we still need tickets. Can’t they just do it digitally? I’m pretty sure if they have your license plate, they also have your contact info so they can either
– send a mail or SMS saying you have a fine
– send a fine through snail mail.
– send it to your eBox. (Which they already do: the only fine ever got for going 4km/u over the upper limit was sent to me through this way)
And yes I know the parking agents are a private company and not cops, but I’m saying they should be able to make a digital system by know so you don’t have to litter paper or plastic.
Just place the bag under your windshield next time you illegally park so that they can reuse it.

They’ve been doing this for at least 10+ years. It’s used when there is a chance of rain so the tickets don’t get wet. Rain makes it unreadable (and they will send you a letter with a higher “fine” if you don’t pay) and it is a pain to get off the windscreen.

Ever had one of these stick to your window? I’ve had one that took ages to get off. Plastic bags aren’t the solution but it sure prevents unreadable tickets and tickets that stick to your window cause they’re soaking wet.
Kortrijk just puts an useless piece of paper between the wipers just to let you know. The actual fine follows in the mail.

In Brussels, parking brussels, they used use paper tickets. Now you do get that suprize only after the facts. I believe by post, my also at a online portal
Just park correctly or pay for your parking so the fine doesn’t exist in the first place. At least it’s a ziploc bag you can reuse.
Eigenlijk toch vrij logisch als je er over nadenkt. Zo worden de boetes niet onleesbaar van de regen en de zakjes kunnen toch hergebruikt worden voor bijvoorbeeld pionnen en kaartjes en zo in te sorteren voor gezelschapsspellen.

Put your fine on someone else’s car. I found one on my windshield once and threw it in my car, waiting for the reminder. It never came so when I looked at the fine again, I was the plate didn’t match.
So someone out their fine on my windshield. I have 2 theories as to why:
– wanted to save me from a fine by putting theirs on my car
– hoped I didn’t notice the mismatch in plates, and let me pay their fine
