**From The Telegraph:**
The Metropolitan Police could be forced to reinstate hundreds of officers accused of sexual and domestic abuse following a landmark judgment at the High Court.
Sgt Di Maria won a legal challenge against the force over its “unlawful” decision to strip him of his warrant card after he was accused of sexual assault.
The decision came after Sir Mark Rowley, the Met commissioner, ordered the re-vetting of serving police officers and staff following public outrage over the violent, sexual crimes of Wayne Couzens and David Carrick.
There are about 300 individuals who are having their vetting reviewed under Operation Assure, 107 of whom have been dismissed.
In a judgment handed down on Tuesday, the High Court ruled the Met cannot dismiss officers by removing their vetting clearance.
Reacting to the judgment, Sir Mark Rowley said: “Today’s ruling on the law has left policing in a hopeless position.
“We now have no mechanism to rid the Met of officers who were not fit to hold vetting – those who cannot be trusted to work with women, or those who cannot be trusted to enter the homes of vulnerable people.
“It is absolutely absurd that we cannot lawfully sack them.
“This would not be the case in other sectors where staff have nothing like the powers comparable to police officers.”

Why should police officers face consequences for breaking the law?
/S
Once again, this begs the question
What the f*** is going on in the UK
Every single system is broken, doesn’t work, or being designed to go against the people
You can be confident in the fact absolutely no one in power will try sort this, and if they do it will just be endless red tape and legal battles for years
🤡
I don’t think people are reading the article before responding. Turns out it’s unlawful to sack officers via the back-door without determining the merit of allegations against them first, which seems pretty reasonable.
So I guess unproven accusations are not allowed anymore, there has to be some sort of investigation or trial to sack a copper for this.
I think most of the angry people in the comments don’t grasp that “accused” isn’t the same as convicted/found and so are very upset because they think proven SAs are being allowed back.
With so many allegations, I would hope that Di Maria was investigated and prosecuted rather than being sacked. He’s a danger to all women. Why would they brush that under the carpet. He’s a serial rapist, allegedly.
The football protection squad are one of the most corrupt institutions in this country. ACAB
Unfortunately, rapists, bullies, and abusers have more rights than their victims.
So if a woman accuses a police officer of sexual touching, the copper gets charged and goes to court where the burden of proof is beyond reasonable doubt, gets a not guilty, then goes to a police gross misconduct hearing where the the burden of proof is on the balance of probabilities (51%) which is pretty low, but gets a not guilty there too, surely just sacking them coz you can’t trust them off the back of allegations that someone isn’t 51% sure happened is probably not lawful?
Of all the professions you’d think the Police would understand the concept of innocent until proven guilty. In fact it’s even worse than that. A lot of these cases have been to tribunals etc and the person has been found not guilty. The management response at that point seems to have been to disregard the verdict and sack them anyway by removing their security clearance.
If you fail vetting you should be sacked, the fact that the police don’t re-vet people is completely mad
