WASHINGTON (TNND) — The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said Tuesday a section regarding gender identity on the Department of Veterans Affairs’s profile page was deleted.
DOGE, a presidential advisory committee led by Elon Musk, shared on social media platform X two images of a profile page on the website. One imaged labeled “before” shows a section for gender identity under a “personal information” part of the page.
That section states “you can change your selection at any time” and “if you decide you no longer want to share your gender identity, select Prefer not to answer.” A drop-down button below is titled, “What to know before you decide to share your gender identity.”
The second image is labeled “after.” There is no gender identity section in it.
“Fixed. The Gender Identity section has been deleted,” DOGE captioned its post.
The post was in response to one by Musk, who took note of a remark by X account Libs of TikTok.
Libs of TikTok wrote that the “VA app for benefits and medical are still listing options for gender preferences,” adding “this garbage needs to be removed immediately.”
“Noted @DOGE,” Musk commented.
The Department of Veteran Affairs did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The National News Desk (TNND).
On Saturday, DOGE posted it also adjusted the Department of Homeland Security’s website. Two images of the site are attached to the post, with the first showing information about resources for members of the LGBTQ+ community and the second titled “Page Not Found.”
The first sentence in the image of resources reads, “LGBTQI+ individuals face a surge in violence against individuals and community spaces.”
“Federal threat monitoring has shown that these threats are increasingly tied to hate groups and domestic violent extremists,” the paragraph continues. “LGBTQI+ Americans – especially women and girls of color – have experienced disproportionately high rates of violence and hate crimes for decades.”
