In the US my mother had her confirmation where they studied the, ‘Aapinen’ and everything was taught in Finnish because it was considered more accurate than English.

It’s Karelian, not Finnish, so it’s pretty rare
I have my grandfather’s english finnish dictionary from 1904. Because Finland was autonomous part of Russia and on those days there was censorship there are words like fining, finish, finned and fir but not Finland or finn.
