Fair play to them going balls deep in with the Taliban. They said they would and they have. I did not think they would go through with it but there you go.
How cute and considerate. The abandoned local staff will surely feel less let down now.
Just giving stuff to Taliban has no meaning, it will be sold or used for barter. Aid should have been administered by EU staff, or none at all.
literally funding terrorism
Why EU is doing this? They will not go to the civilians that’s for sure.
I’m sad to report to you the taliban are now fully in charge. Not just holding it but have a PM and government officials.
What an absolute mess Afghanistan turned out to be.
Even when you have the best intentions and try to help, the Taliban will use it to their end …
Perhaps US shouldn’t have left, it was an occupying force but still provided some constitutional freedoms and now terrorists are left free to shape the country in their own image.
They literally are treating better the Taliban than the Polish
At one point we will have to stop dictating how other people live their lives. We tried to change it, it didn’t work, now we are back to square one.
Apart from aides we should probably recognize the new government.
I know this is an unpopular opinion for obvious reasons, but putting myself in the perspective of the average afghan living under the taliban government, if they truly are in need of aid they shouldn’t be punished more than they already were just by randomly being born in a specific country. If I was living in a dictatorial regime and was starving, I would appreciate being helped, you know…
I’d rather the people of Afghanistan not go hungry and the Taliban keeping some of it for themselves than give the Taliban nothing and let the Afghans starve.
In both scenarios the Taliban live, but in only one of them do innocent people make it through.
If you want the real answer,
The aid is partially a bribe to the taliban, as the world unofficially starts accepting their rule and will start working with them. This bribe will be a step towards starting to deal with them like with the previous government.
The other part is because no matter how much they keep for themselves, they benefit from preventing a starvation crisis, they want to legitimize their rule and keep tensions down, hence if they can keep people from starving with this, it works in their interests as it shows that they are able to lead the country, partially thanks to the EU
its simply realpolitik, regardless of what our politicians claim and shout officially.
Also, the alternative idea that they just care about the civiliams of Afghanistan and they believe the Taliban will be trustworthy with this aid, is just a pipe dream imo, and an excuse to justify the action.
This is good if it means that large hordes of refugees won’t start moving towards the EU.
Imagine it is only ham, rillettes, and other good pieces of those pigs we don’t manage to sell these days. The Taliban would be really screwed.
28 tons ahahahahaah, only if it is necessary to produce 95% of opium ……….
We padding the pockets of the Taliban now?
Tax money well spent
I’m guessing the EU is really wanting to avoid another refugee crisis.
I wonder what loadout there gonna pick
Gotta say, I think we’d be better off investing it in our border defences.
Aid just gets swallowed up and they keep coming anyway.
Possibly worth it if in return they take back their nationals when we deport them, but puts them in a position to blackmail us.
I am kinda social darwinist and I am againts this. We should let people suffer so their community can evolve from something terrible to something good. Europe was terrible place once. They had to evolve.
International helps on political-based problems just protects the political regime.
I know people will suffer but world is not an utopia. Pain and suffer is the only way to reshape communities.
If you are more humanistic than me, At least make this a trade of political laws. Such like, ” I help you if u send little girls to school and remove these laws etc ”
unconditional favor to evil politicians make them stronger and create more suffer overall.
I will be surprised if any of this makes it to the civilians that aren’t part of the Taliban.

I thought the airport couldn’t operate?
They should only send aid…no money
Because we know where the money will go towards
It’s awesome that the EU is now funding Taliban
What hipocicey . Supping aid to murders . terrorist . wile people in the west sleep on the streets .!!!
Does this mean the [5 conditions](https://www.euractiv.com/section/defence-and-security/news/eu-sets-five-conditions-for-future-operational-engagement-with-taliban/) have been met?
