Loadout of AIM-9X, AIM-120C and external fuel bags. The lack of an AMRAAM on pylon 9 suggests it had been launched.

One of the few images we have seen showing either the F16, or the AIM-9X.

  1. Curious as to why the gears are down. If the gear is down is down and the 9 pylon is empty, is that an indicator that it’s on a return home for landing?

Or what are the chances the 9 pylon was already empty at take off? Is it common for the F16 to deploy without a full load out, or is it possible the pylon was left empty in a rush to intercept a target?

    So many interesting questions here!

  2. Always love to see these birds flying in the skies they were built for. Blowing Russian shit up

  3. It seems this is actually an AIM-9X and not an older L or M, it already has the smaller fins at the front and back.

    compare http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hykla2rGM1k/U3NbmVrDjeI/AAAAAAAAeRI/MvJRwBfmNDA/s1600/AIM+9X+Block+II.jpg
    and https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xhnes9mNqqs/UMYal4E8s3I/AAAAAAAAYVI/5zA4fVAm8yQ/s1600/Misil+AIM-9.jpg

So Ukraine indeed got the better ones meanwhile and not only the old stuff (which is certainly still good enough to down drones of course, and for that they are certainly happier about several AIM-9L than one AIM-9X).

  4. I’m just here to see Terma A/S ‘s PIDS+ pylon integration
