  1. The French president announced the launch of an “exceptional humanitarian operation” in Mariupol, a besieged city in southeastern Ukraine. This operation will be carried out “in conjunction with Turkey and Greece, to evacuate all those who wish to leave Mariupol. We will organize things in the best possible conditions,” said Macron, who stressed that he would talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 48 to 72 hours on this issue.

  2. Putin really has Finland and Sweden joining NATO, Germany contributing to European defense again, and Turkey and Greece putting aside their differences. I’m starting to think we should be considering him for the Nobel Peace Prize.

  3. I swear Macron announces he is launching all sorts of policies and overtures and none ever succeeds but a lot of media noise is made about them. This reminds me of his other talks with Putin.

  4. How?

How will they get past Russians – I mean didn’t they open fire even on ***Red Cross*** humanitarian convoy (or humanitarian convoy in general), why wouldn’t they just blast whatever/whoever Germany, Turkey and Greece sends?

  5. Brilliant move. There will be a lot of movies about that, if that happens. And it would be really hard to be explained by propaganda, if this news gets past propaganda

  6. Putin somehow got turkey AND greece together in a peacekeeping mission with old ottoman pal france.

    Vlad is the great uniter

  7. I swear, if Putin continues this war a bit longer, we may even see a reunification of Cyprus.

    BTW, happy independence day Greece!

  8. During Erdogan-Mitsiotakis meeting Erdogan told to Mitsio that they actually helped evacuating 1 Greek citizen alongside Turkish citizens. So this is probably something those two agreed on before and Macron doing his power play as always. You westerners will get triggered but i really think Macron is the Putin of western Europe, in terms of strongman leadership and power play fetish. Most people caught the weirdness of Borisboy in NATO summit Macron was equally weird, totally acting like Melanie Trump, forcing his way between Biden and Boris and stuff…

  9. Misleading title – they are going to TRY to coordinate a mission such as this.

Honestly throughout the course of this Macron has been reserved and level headed in the course of absolute the chaos, where it would have been as easy to brashly engage the Russians.

Europe is in a grand position and the Russians grow weaker by the day. Europe will intervene in the coming weeks. The crimes committed by the Russian in Ukraine but particularly in Mariupol will draw Europe in.

Viva la revolution – come on you boys in green. Bainne gorm leas e do Eire

  10. Ooh that’ll get interesting. Better send HMS Defender too as it has had quite a lot of recent experience of winding up the Russians. HMS Defender can sail around the coast of Crimea in the international shipping lanes poking the bear and keeping the attention focused on them and maybe paying another visit to Odessa whilst the French, Greeks and Turks pop round the other way un-noticed and load up the evacuees.
