Hi everyone !
Tonight, I’m **interviewing Finnish MEP Alviina Alametsä**, from the **Greens group**, on my Twitch channel. I will be asking her about her EU political experience, her priorities, but also asking some of your questions and those of the audience.
Alviina Alametsä has been a Finnish MEP since 2019. She’s a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the member Committee on Petitions, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence and a substitute in the Committee on Transport and Tourism.
The aim of these interviews is for people to discover their MEPs, learn about what they do, their expertise and interact with them. It is intended as a pedagogic way to learn about your representatives in Brussels and EU politics, so we won’t go deep into policy debates and **we won’t cover national politics** (unless it is very relevant to the EU).
While most of my current community belongs to the EU bubble, I want to reach people who might be interested in the EU without being in Brussels, so they get a chance to exchange with people and experts from there and maybe learn some new things along the way. In this precise case, since the MEP is Finnish I thought it would make sense to give Finnish people the opportunity to pitch in 🙂
So feel free to **suggest down here questions you would like Alviina Alametsä to answer** !
In any case, join the discussion **tonight at 18:00** CET on [Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/mepassistant) !
You can also join my community on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/mepassistants) (@mepassistants) or [Discord](https://discord.com/invite/y5rPHF3Pgu).

**PS: I have received authorisation from the mods to post this.**

How is it like working in the European parliament?
Isn’t being a Mep just a way for controversial politicians to escape Finland’s (negative) media coverage. Several politicians come to mind..
Not much of what happens in Brussels is newsworthy here
You’ll reach more Finns in /r/Suomi
On what matters other EU countries have similar views as Finland?
Ask her how can we justify doubling our foreign aid programs when we are ourselves struggling with the rise in cost of food, energy and transportation, not to mention the continued risk by our untrustworthy eastern neighbour? From the way the Green party behaves, it seems like leading by example really more important than the prosperity of our nation? Can you ask her which is more important to the party, the benefit of the world or the benefit of the nation?
When will the EU be reformed as a glorious federation it was destined to be?
