weird way of saying 45% of them (majority) is male, death of quality news has been upon us for quite some time

  1. I guess you could have gone the route of asking what might be the reason for the nearly double share.

You could have gone the route of being outraged that 1 in 4 are children.

But you went with “My gender is being discriminated against because of SJW and made up shit like that”. Cool.

    Cool.

    Anyway… 1/4 are children.

  2. “Death of quality news has been upon us”

Clickbait title, emotional argumentation, no sources towards actual data, bias w.r.t. how the data should be interpreted dripping off the few sentences you wrote.

  3. Those numbers are nowhere near accurate. Belgium has no reliable statistics on gender and homelessness, but from working in the field and based on informal reports, it’s closer to 70% homeless men, 80% shelterles men. About the same as in most western countries.

Meanwhile this year the federal government has started a “housing first” initiative that promotes active gender discrimination, with a goal of 50% women housed. We also opened 7 new shelters, all women only.

That being said, the problem of childhood homelessness is increasing, and fast. The gendered policies in place have consequences for them too. Family shelters do not allow men. Families have to be separated, often with the father sleeping in the streets and the kids losing contact with him. Adult children of homeless families are also affected. And children of single fathers or fathers who are victims of spousal abuse don’t have access to accommodation. The latter means in low socio-economic classes that if the father leaves, he often has to leave his kids with the abusive parent.

Gender discrimination has consequences not only for men, but for their children as well.

  4. OP, are you really this dumb? It says right in the opening why it’s titled that way, because most people would expect it to be way more lopsided to men than 66%, the point of a title is to grab the reader’s attention. You’re just going out of your way to be offended.

  5. The point of a title is to make people want to read the article. The point of the first sentence is to make you read the rest of the paragraph and so on.

    How do you do that?

Well, one of the methods is to take an assumption and go against them.

There is an assumption that almost all homeless people are adult males. By mentioning the women and children, you challenge the assumption and this makes people want to read it.

And, considering the assumption, 1/3 being female and 1/4 being children is newsworthy. Because it goes against the stereotype.

So, this is a good title.

  6. Lol. OP is a meninist. The title and intro of the article arent to oppress you because you have a pair of balls, its because that are more women and children than would be expected.
