The question is how long the period is from the day you resigned to when you will be available. An example: in germany some people have a quite long cancelation period. For example up to 3 month. So if you give an written resign to HR you have to stay this 3 month before really available for a new Job.

If you don’t have a job right now, just write ab sofort. They are just asking for your notice period.
