PM Orbán rejects President Zelensky’s demands to send arms and ban Russian energy supplies

  1. Hungary gets ~40% of its energy from Russia. It would be suicidal to risk being cut off. In the short-term, Hungary has no choice but to remain neutral.

  2. If the two clown parties joined United for Hungary, it might be a razor-thin win. It’s time to get serious.

Orban is betting that people will elect his vision of “keep Russian energy coming”, but it’s such a dim way to see the regional situation.

I fear Orban will win by a margin that reflects the votes split to the other 2 parties with no shot.

  3. I will say it: Hungary, you are truly disappointing.

I do hope people are protesting the Hungarian leadership. It’s incredible how this state behaves.

  4. “M Orbán rejects President Zelensky’s **DEMANDS”**

Literally, the next line:”The president of Ukraine had **ASKED** Hungary and Prime Minister Orbán….”So did he demand or ask? This is why I hate media headlines. They have the potential to stir up more issues than actually exist.

    Edit: Basically the media: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IEwBrJzhlg

  5. Orbán’s current stance has turned me into an orbanite.

    >O God, bless the nation of Hungary
    With your grace and bounty

    >Pity, O Lord, the Hungarians
Who are tossed by waves of danger
Extend over it your guarding arm
On the sea of its misery
    Long torn by ill fate
Bring upon it a time of relief
They who have suffered for all sins
Of the past and of the future!

  6. Zelensky never demanded anything. During the last month he pleads for help and welcomes any help that comes to his land. He’s always asking and we keep not listen to his cry for help. But we’ll pay our stupidity and fear. Stupid article. Garbage.

  7. If orbins party is re-elected, eu is going to start seeing them as an internal Serbia. A lot of people will be watching very closely. I’ve met a lot of Hungarians, and I liked them all. But nationalism was very common amongst most of them compared to various other European citizens I met.

  8. I am ok with helping Ukraine as long as it does not kill our economy (which would be eventually also bad for Ukraine). So Zelensky, please calm down

  9. The Polish government is having its own Germany moment: the snakes they nurtured (Hungary/Russia) are now acting against their interests.

  10. Orban, Lukashenko and whoever runs Serbia need to have a look at which way the wind is blowing. Their boy Putin’s star is sinking fast and you boys are going to share his fate if you’re stupid.

  11. As a hungarian, I am deeply, woefully ashamed of our country’s stance on the Ukrainian conflict, and it fills me with inconsolable grief to see our country relegated to the garbage dump of history. I would hereby like to officially condemn the government’s actions. Please know that our PM has been Putin’s bootlicker for more than a decade, to the detriment of the hungarian people and we have suffered greatly because of it. We, the people of Hungary wholeheartedly support the brave, selfless struggle of our ukrainian brothers, mourn their every loss, and we welcome their women and children with open arms in their hour of dire need, should they wish to seek refuge in Hungary. Keep up the good fight, and send those mass murdering nazi scum running back to Moscow. Slava Ukraini!

  12. I mean, Hungary isn’t alone on not wanting to ban the majority of their own country’s gas supply. That one just isn’t going to happen, too many EU states rely too much on Russian gas.

And as far as arms go… why? Why should a small country’s small army become weaker for another country’s benefit?
