Let’s hope P&O find every attempt they make to sail a ferry is mired in red tape, inspections and bureaucracy.
> *Bing-bong* Welcome aboard P&O ferries, passengers are encouraged to pay attention to the signs and find their nearest drowning station. Thank you. *Bing-bong*
Blows my mind that after so many examples these companies can still be stupid enough to not realise a stunt like this will end in tears.
They should put the CEO to jail and throw away the key.
Laid off 800 workers and CEO is paid a 325000 salary
Who could possibly have guessed that this would happens. Me!
Wait a minute here. So you’re telling me the 10 minute training video and the 5 question questionnaire that the new recruits did on the busses to the ships, is in fact not substantial training to do the job?
Well dress me up as a bear and release me into the wild. Who would’ve guessed that?
TIL that P&O Ferries are a completely separate company to P&O Cruises.
Why would two separate companies, operating in more or less the same sector, have such similar names?
I’d be surprised if P&O Cruises don’t lose customers over this – because people confuse them for the ferry company.
They’re paying the staff now working on the ferries less than minimum wage, on the basis that they operate in international waters and the ships are flagged in countries of convenience.
On a ferry operating between defined ports staff should be paid at least the minimum wage of whichever country of those ports they decide to reside in. Arguably those ships should have to be flagged in one of the countries they’re operating to.
What P&O ferries now are, is modern slavery ships.
Genuinely hoping they never make it out of this quagmire they’ve sunk themselves into by fucking ovee so many employees and I hope that cunt Grant Schapps realises and acknowledges this was his party’s doing and swiftly reverses the law his party passed.
Cant wait for all the excuses about how this is because of Covid or Brexit, when really it’s just about the greed of the directors as per usual. Just pure lust for money.
Boats are never passing h&s inspections anytime soon.
Headhunters for DP World must be looking for someone who can run a ferry company.
Forget the whole dropping the crew for a new foreign one at half the price for the moment. If you bring a new crew member on board, the process is easy as the experienced crew members can onboard them. If you replace the whole crew with one that was never in this ship, it isn’t going to work. Crews need shakedown time as well as the ship itself. What things need fixing right now and what can be left. The Hull Hook of Holland route is a night ferry. You don’t want anything to go wrong in the middle of the North Sea.

This is not the work of a safe company.
