Redditors of Lux, I need your help!

As the mother of a child with cancer, I want to advocate for other families who must battle through their own childhood cancer journey.

Please sign my petition for the creation of an children’s oncology ward in Luxembourg!

➡️ Right now, with no dedicated oncology rooms for hospitalisation, children and their families are required to go abroad for treatment.

➡️ Creating a dedicated oncology ward would allow children and their families the possibility to receive these treatments close to home, provided by our existing oncology team.

➡️ Families need SUPPORT during these challenging treatments – being close to home means close to friends and family who can help out with practical and moral support.

Let’z help our children win the fight against cancer.

To sign you must:

🟢Be at least 15 years old

🔵Have a Luxembourg matricule number (social security number)

🟣 Validate your signature via email

From our family to yours: THANK YOU!

  1. Expand the pediatric cancer department in Luxembourg: Help our children win the fight against cancer

The aim of the petition is to create a pediatric oncology ward in the existing children’s hospital in Luxembourg in order to allow children and their families the possibility of receiving some of these lifesaving cancer treatments closer to home.

Each year in Luxembourg, between 20 and 30 children are diagnosed with cancer.

At present, they must go abroad for treatment, a process which is intensive in all manner of stress, both physical and mental, for the child, parents, and other family members such as siblings. A dedicated oncology service would allow children and their families the possibility to receive these treatments close to home, provided by our existing oncology team.

This petition aims to build capacity in Luxembourg by having the infrastructure to provide in-country treatments for pediatric patients while continuing to consult and work with the larger European centres for cancer in Paris, Brussels, and Heidelberg, among others.

Home comforts for children and their families, as well as allowing them to have the support of their network of family and friends close at hand, would provide a major support during the cancer journey.
