“Five unions sued the Trump administration on Wednesday, seeking to block what they called the possible mass firing of hundreds of thousands of federal employees who resist pressure to accept buyouts.
The plaintiffs include the United Auto Workers, the National Treasury Employees Union, the National Federation of Federal Employees, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
The decision prevents Trump’s administration from implementing the buyout plan for now, giving a temporary victory to labor unions that have sued to stop it entirely.
On Tuesday, meanwhile,
Trump ordered U.S. agencies to work closely with billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to
identify federal employees who could be laid off.”

Must be nice to have a job where you can demand that your employer not fire you. If my job wants to fire me, I’m gone. And I don’t get the same level of pay or benefits that the Federal employees get. I might not get unemployment if my employer tried to deny it. Why do they deserve better? And our country is growing broke, but we can’t scale back the federal workforce? I am not for anyone losing their jobs, but I am not feeling any sympathy towards federal workers who make fat wages for little work, and who seem to think they should be immune to dismissal when the rest of us are not. I don’t think the average American will care about this. Redditors who hate Trump though are plenty on this platform, so they will probabaly monologue about how this is terrible. Again, I am not cheering on people getting put out of work, but there are many people I know getting screwed by this economy, so it is hard for me to feel sad about people who are doing better economically than most of us plebes.
Can you win a lawsuit against the president for fearing to lose your job?
A lot of union rank and file voted for Trump’s presidency for ’24.
