  1. This is on nuijamaa (club/mallet land, or because nuija is also a gentle slur, dork land). The little hut they are in is next to a local museum that was formerly a grain storage. The site also contains the local graveyard and a famous big ass boulder called sormuskivi which I’m surprised they didn’t show.

    We have gone to this spot for the last two autumns for a picnic. Not in the hut but on a bench overlooking a field next to it where you can see the actual bordermarkings and the lake that connects to Russia. It has always been quiet and kind of fun to be in a place like that.

    But I’m sure our next visit will not have the same atmosphere, not in our minds anyway…

  2. I hadn’t seen that video, and it’s grim that its tone of unease towards Russia feels as applicable as it was in 2015
