“We are pleased with Norway’s desire to join the Drone Coalition, which already unites 17 countries in support of Ukraine. With its potential accession, Norway plans to invest $50 million [EUR 48.5 million] in the Drone Coalition, making a significant contribution to drone supplies and technology development so that Ukraine is stronger on the battlefield. We also invite other allies to join the Drone Coalition to jointly increase the volume of supplies to Ukraine,” said Latvian Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds.

According to the Drone Coalition Memorandum of Understanding, the admission of new countries must be agreed upon by existing coalition members. With Norway’s accession, the drone coalition would have 18 countries cooperating.

Since the establishment of the Drone Coalition on February 14, 2024, its member states have already provided significant support to Ukraine through drone deliveries. The total support for Ukraine’s drone capabilities by all Drone Coalition member states in 2024 reached 1.8 billion euros.

Latvia allocated 20 million euros for the drone coalition last year and plans to allocate the same amount this year. In 2024, Latvia delivered almost 5,000 drones to Ukraine.

Along with Latvia, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and Sweden are participating in the drone coalition.
